Hey all and welcome to my website.
If you reflect back on all the time and money invested in school studying various subjects, how much time was devoted to learning about important life topics such as wealth or deep thinking? If you are like me, the answer is zero. School teaches you to follow order, not to think for yourself. At college, if you try to apply your own thoughts, the professor will only ask about your citations, which are missing because you formed the text from your own thoughts. They don’t want you to think for yourself. Otherwise, you may realize that you are paying for a degree, which you don’t even need. School teaches you to follow orders so that you can follow orders on your job. I want to teach you how to think for yourself. Many people invest a significant portion of their childhood and young adult life into pursuing education to prepare for a career, but fail to prepare for life.
Several years ago, I decided to help bridge the gap in the education I received and began by reading numerous personal development books. Unfortunately, without taking notes I quickly forgot most of what I read, and more importantly rarely took any steps to apply what I learned. Utilize Books was formed to provide key concepts that can be utilized from books in three broad categories that are imperative to surviving in the digital age:
These three topics are also inter-related in many respects. After all, it is more difficult to achieve career success if you are sick or you have no money in your bank account. In addition, like me, you may find social situations difficult if you are a highly logical person. These topics are thought so that you are ready for a future, which will include a lot of code and AI.
A college degree may prepare you for a career, but will it truly prepare you to live a successful and fulfilling life? I would argue no. Many college students don’t think twice about accumulating thousands of dollars of debt to pursue a degree, but fail to invest in learning about topics that will ultimately have an even greater impact on their life. Learning doesn’t stop after you graduate. That is when it actually starts. The biggest investment you can make is to invest in yourself. However, learning without taking action is nothing. What good does the information do if you never apply it? Hence, why I have created this site; read and take action.
We are all short on time these days. Not many of us have the opportunity to read a whole book, not even considering the time to apply the information. Thus, I have derived the key concepts from the books into summaries that can be read in 15 minutes or less and included action steps to take. Remember, knowledge is power, but only if utilized properly!
Like Dale Carnegie said in How to Win Friends and Influence People:
“Get out of a mental rut, think new thoughts, acquire new visions, discover new ambitions”
